Seasoned MGP competitor James Buckett secures as lead sponsor for this year’s IMGold Manx Grand Prix. has added James Buckett to its roster, with its sponsorship of his ride in the Lightweight race at the Manx. A major player in the motorcycle racing world, is a headline sponsor of the British Superbikes and has in the past counted the likes of Michael Dunlop amongst its sponsored riders.
James first competed at the MGP as a newcomer in 2005, and although he took a break in 2008-13 to concentrate on short circuits in the UK, he returned to the Manx in 2014 and took 10th place in the Lightweight race and is delighted to be back for the same race this year. “I was really pleased with that result, but I plan to do even better in 2015. I love the Manx and intend to continue racing it until I win!” says James. “I’m racing my Kawasaki ZXR400 again this year and, as I’ve race prepared and tuned it myself, I know it will be in top condition and I plan to do my team and the sponsors at proud.”
Fergus Dalgarno, founder of, is certainly proud to be part of James’s team this year and have the brand back at the Manx Grand Prix. “Sorrymate are all bikers so when it comes to sponsorship it’s all about helping the competitors,” he says, “and who better than James, who is once again tackling the greatest road race circuit in the world.”
James and his team, based in Kent, have been preparing for this year’s event by racing in the BEMSEE BMCRC Formula 400 series in the UK, at Brands Hatch, Snetterton and Silverstone. As he says on his Facebook page ( he is passionate about racing motorbikes but acknowledges that it costs a small fortune to compete at this level.
“I am really fortunate to have the support of a talented group of people and businesses including C&H Autos, MHP exhausts and Race Pace suspension who offer expertise and support in many different ways,” says James. “Having on board as my headline sponsor for the Manx is fantastic for all of us – a real boost to the team’s confidence and a thrill to be associated with such a big brand.”
And if that’s not enough, has confirmed that its support will continue for the rest of this season and in the run up to the 2016 Manx and Classic TT. Thanks to this support, James is already thinking beyond the 2015 IMGold MGP and has plans to continue racing in the BEMSEE Formula 400 series as well as the Lightweight, Junior and Senior races at the 2016 MGP, and racing a ZXR750 in the Classic TT, in livery. But it doesn’t stop there.
