SorryMate announce sponsorship of the National Association for Bikers with a Disability
It’s not surprising that we love to support our fellow bikers. So when the opportunity arose to support a charity which helps look after Bikers with Disabilities, we leapt at the chance to support them. We have become a Gold Affiliated Supporter of the National Association for Bikers with a disability, also known as the NABD. SorryMate already supports the Association of Air Ambulance Charities. In addition to this, we also sponsor up and coming riders at British Superbike level.
Who are the NABD?
National Association for Bikers with a disability is an organisation set up in Stockport and Manchester with the aim to support disabled motorists. Furthermore, the organisation provides grants and support to help to adapt vehicles to suit the needs of pillion passengers with disabilities. They additionally host the famous “You’ve been Nabbed” motorcycle Rally, currently help in Cheshire. The NABD membership is open to everybody. You do not have to be disabled to become a member and support the work of this charity.
What do the NABD do?
The NABD offers financial assistance for disabled riders. In addition to this, they also offer free advice and consultations for disabled people on all aspects of motorcycling and related issues. For example, they help with adaptations to:
- motorcycle/sidecar combinations,
- trikes and quad-cycles,
- trike riding,
- VAT exemptions for disabled riders,
- legal issues,
- rider training,
- adaptations to protective clothing and safety equipment;
and any other issues relating to motorcycling for people with disabilities. NABD is a fantastic organisation with a great work ethic. NABD is regularly consulted on issues relating to disabled motorcycling by the DVLA, DfT, VOSA, DSA, and the Highways Agency.
SorryMate is a proud sponsor of the NABD
Paul from SorryMate said ‘Over recent months we have seen the invaluable service and help that NABD provides. We can also see all the time and effort put in by everyone involved in the Charity. In addition to this, we help many innocent victims of road accidents ourselves. As a result, to put something into an organisation that provides an invaluable service to many such people fits in perfectly with our ethos of giving back to the community. We hope that in the coming months we can work closely with them and build an even stronger relationship by promoting the good work they do.‘
SorryMate help many victims of Bike accidents claim the compensation they deserve. Furthermore, SorryMate has successfully recovered compensation for many riders who have been knocked off their bike, slid off on diesel or thrown off trying to avoid a car pulling out on them over the past 3 years. Many of the riders they represent have turned to SorryMate after their own insurers were unable to help.
