Team Fast Bikes, in association with Sorrymate.com, powered to the top step of the podium at the inaugural round of the No Limits Racing endurance championship at Snetterton. The pairing of brothers Bruce and Brod Wilson shunned off the relentless wind and rain to edge their way forward from their 18th place qualifying grid. “The unpredictable weather was a real nightmare”, explained Bruce, who took the first stint in the three hour race. “It was really hard to predict whether the corners ahead were wet or dry and it appeared to catch out a large number of racers”.
Riding a Yamaha R6 in the Open 600 class, the duo switched riders every 45 minutes, using the one bike to complete the whole event. Brod’s first outing kicked off with several laps behind the safety car, allowing him to get a feel for the slippery, changing surface conditions. Battling relentlessly for the lead with a rival team, the brother’s fate was sealed when their main rivals crashed out in the closing stages of the event. With a three lap lead ahead of the next nearest competitors, Brod rode a mature final session to cross the line and take victory. “I really didn’t expect us to do so well”, said Brod, “but we’re over the moon and hope to build off this strong start across the following seven rounds in the championship”.
The second round takes place at Oulton Park in Cheshire on the 10th/11th April.
