Zero Motorcycles have released the latest addition to their collection of all-electric motorcycles – The Zero S, a naked street bike. It claims to be the perfect package for street riding, with fantastic acceleration at any RPM.
The Zero S Motorcycle
With its almost silent motor, the Zero S is the perfect stealth machine. This proves to be quite a selling point contrary to traditional beliefs of loud pipes saving lives. Not every biker can have noisy pipes, whether this is due to personal preference or leaving for work in the early hours of the morning. The Zero range makes riding accessible to any person and a variety of personal circumstances.
The Zero is all torque, no shifting. This makes for comfortable riding and again accessible to those that may not be comfortable with the traditional way of biking. It may also prove handy to those that are physically not able to change gears, but still, want to experience the thrill of the ride. With no noise, vibration or fumes, all you are left with is the pure experience of riding!
Mobile connectedness at your fingertips
You can even connect the Zero to your mobile, breaking away from being elbow deep in the engine while tuning your pride and joy, and merely adjusting performance with a handy app! Could the Zero S be any more convenient? The Zero S comes standard with pre-programmed performance modes to assist in the daily commute or a journey around the twisty country roads.
Charging times are a dream
One thing putting people off the electric bikes is the thought of charging. With the Zero, charging for as little as an hour will give you 85 miles of riding! In the time it takes to have a cup of coffee, you can get 30 miles or so more journey. The other bonus is that you don’t need any special charging equipment to supply the bike, plug into the mains overnight and wake up refreshed and refuelled!
Forget maintenance costs
Now, for those of us who don’t like or can’t keep up with maintenance, the Zero has no oil, spark plugs, clutches, filters, chain adjustments, and doesn’t require expensive tune-ups. Instead, a carbon fibre belt directly connects the rear wheel to a motor that uses a single moving part to deliver torque at levels beyond conventional superbikes.
To keep the bike up to date with the latest spec, update the application on your phone and experience another level of riding.
The Zero S is the bike with the longest rage
The Zero S is the longest-range production electric motorcycle out there. At its core is the highest power and energy density battery in the EV industry — the higher the battery capacity, the more range. Select the battery size that works for you. Ride over 220 miles city / 110 miles highway using the highest capacity ZF14.4 battery coupled with the Power Tank accessory (adds 3.6 kWh). Or, shed weight and gain storage space with the ZF7.2.
Are electric motorcycles the way forward? Or will you choose to stick with tradition? The Zero certainly gives the rider a vast amount of control over their ride. For £10,690 you can own a standard S and have room for improvement with their optional extras.
