The Essex & Herts Air Ambulance event was proudly sponsored by SorryMate and took place over August and September.
2020 was Essex & Herts Air Ambulance 21st year of their Motorcycle Runs, two of the charity’s biggest annual events. Due to the current pandemic, they were sad to learn they would not be able to meet bikers and concerned about the potential loss of income.
However, the charity devised the latest fundraiser “I Did It My Way” which encouraged people to get out on their bike and complete a 60-mile round trip, or more in some cases, while raising money. They had a massive 672 take part and raised an incredible £16,014.57.
SorryMate were proud to sponsor the Essex & Herts Air Ambulance event, with limited edition t-shirts.
Who are Essex & Herts Air Ambulance?
Essex & Herts Air Ambulance, unlike NHS emergency services, is a charity. It brings the hospital to the critically ill and injured patients of Essex, Hertfordshire and surrounding areas. The free life-saving service is provided 24/7 by helicopters and by rapid response vehicles in the hours of darkness.
Each critical care team consists of a pilot and co-pilot, a pre-hospital care doctor and a critical care paramedic who can be rushed to the scene of an incident with life-saving support equipment to deliver advanced clinical care that is normally only found in the hospital emergency department. Once stabilised, the patient will be conveyed by air or land to the most appropriate hospital for their needs.
It costs £9 million every year to cover all charitable costs and aircraft operations. Without access to National Lottery funding and with only limited support from Government, the charity relies upon the generosity and goodwill of the people and businesses of Essex and Hertfordshire to remain operational and keep saving lives…they can’t fly without you!
